About This Project

This project involved the substantial remodelling of the existing Californian Bungalow residence and the addition of a large living/kitchen/dining zone to the north facing rear. The original front section of the house has been painstakingly reworked to accommodate three bedrooms and a quiet living zone that is bathed in morning light. A small flight of stairs creates a seamless transition from the old to the new, the private to the public, zones of the house.  Upon entering the new section, two fluid, curved walls break from the traditional, rectilinear design of the existing residence. One of them, a timber wall, creates an intimate dining area while the other, a glazed curved wall, orientates the living area towards the native garden. Thoughtful orientation, natural materials and earthy tones are used throughout the residence to ground it in its environment.
