The design proposes the insertion of a visually striking & dynamic addition to streetscape engaging with Burwood Road at varying scales. The overall building massing has been broken into 3 parts in an attempt to reduce visual bulk and respond to the various opportunities and constraints of the site. At ground level the corner is eroded and a forecourt / outdoor cafe space is introduced that extends the public realm, activating the street by visually & physically engaging with Burwood Road at a pedestrian level. Levels 1 & 2 act as a further expression of this forecourt with the truss form aiming to reduce structure below to maximise the amenity of the public open space. In addition the concrete acts as a screen providing a degree of privacy and sun shading to these lower levels. The upper two levels consist of a fully glazed curtain wall making use of the 360 degree outlook and city views. The lift and stair core has been offset to the east in order to allow for maximum flexibility when considering internal layouts.
