Located in Newtown, a long established suburb of Geelong, this commanding residence sits amongst a collection of more traditional housing stock. The timber, zinc and glazed façade features a soaring eave that pronounces its presence and provides an impressive scale. Designed to accommodate the needs of a couple nearing retirement, this residence needed to expand and contract to suit their varied needs. Multi-generational living and large and small scale entertaining was to be facilitated in addition to their basic needs. The spaces are generously sized and the amenity is high with all of the frequently used areas located on the ground floor. Their u-shape arrangement enables north light to penetrate in the winter months and outlook to the pool and garden areas all year round. When grandchildren or visitors come to stay the upper level is activated and the entire house comes to life.
