This compact beachside residence is situated on a corner block in a tranquil pocket of Point Lonsdale. The linear design complements the gentle slope of the site from east to west, allowing the house to rise gracefully from the landscape and appear to ‘float’ above the ground at the eastern end, while the surrounding landscape envelops the base of the structure.
The building’s form and choice of materials harmonise with the natural environment, providing the residence with a strong sense of belonging. The weathered steel, rough-sawn sealed timber, and finely textured weathered timber come together in a cohesive composition that seamlessly blends with the native landscaping. Thoughtful placement of windows and skylights throughout the residence creates framed views, diverse spaces, seasonal shadows, and streams of natural light that fill the interior.
